Global-level data sets may be more highly cited than most journal articles.

 Chris Belter measured the impact of a few openly accessible data sets and compared to journal articles in his field. His results provide hard evidence that the production, archival, and sharing of data may actually be a more effective way to contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge.

American Mathematical Society implements Altmetric tool

The Altmetric tool has been integrated into four AMS journals: Journal of the American Mathematical Society, Mathematics of Computation, Proceedings of the American Mathematical Society, and Transactions of the American Mathematical Society.

Data citation on the ANDS Website

There is a lot of information about data citation on the ANDS website.

http://ands.org.au/cite-data/index.html is the main page which links off to pages directed primarily at institutions and researchers.

There are also a number of videos up on the ANDS YouTube channel, grouped under a Data Citation playlist.
